SUNDAY ON THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST: THE AUSTERITY PROGRAM’S JUSTIN FOLEY + AXL ROSENBERG ARGUE ABOUT WHO’S THE BIGGER ASSHOLE!

Friday, December 16th, 2011 at 3:30pm by

It’s that time again! I am re-invading the Metal Injection Livecast this Sunday night, and this time, I’m bringing reinforcements: MetalSucks columnist/dude from The Austerity Program, Justin Foley, arguably the only member of the MS team who is an even bigger prick than I am. As usual, I have no idea what we’ll be talking about, but I know it will be assloads of fun, and I know I won’t be anywhere within five hundred feet of sobriety, and I’m reasonably certain that Justin is going to do something to make us all feel incredibly uncomfortable because he has a serious talent for that kind of thing, so it should be a good time all around.

Tune in this Sunday from 7pm – 9pm Eastern. The show will stream live right here. You can be even chime in by calling us at 646-929-1357. Don’t miss it!

So tune in, this Sunday starting at 7pm Eastern (4PM Pacific Time, 12AM Mon. In London) and going until 9PM eastern time for an all new edition of the Livecast. The show will stream live right here. You can be even chime in by calling us at 646-929-1357. Don’t miss it!

TONIGHT ON THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST: I HELP WRAP-UP THE BIG FOUR

Thursday, September 15th, 2011 at 3:30pm by

Hey-o!!! If you’re not sick of listening to us ramble on and on about The Big Four yet, I’m gonna be on the Metal Injection Livecast tonight at 8 pm eastern/7 pm central to continue to discuss the show. You can even call in at 646-929-1357 if you wanna ask a specific question, or tell us what assholes we are for not saying unconditionally nice things about each and every band and daring to have an opinion. (I know one of you left a comment under our live snark yesterday saying you hope I die in front of my parents, which seems like a pretty reasonable punishment for daring to suggest that Metallica in 2011 might not be the best thing ever.)

Listen here. The fun starts at 8 pm eastern/7 pm central.

DOWNLOAD THIS WEEK’S METAL INJECTION LIVECAST, FEATURING ME

Thursday, June 30th, 2011 at 2:00pm by

Did you miss me on last night’s Metal Injection Livecast? Well, don’t cry about it — the episode is now available for download right here.

And we had a great time! Or, at least, I did. I dunno about the Livecast team. I mean, fuck those guys, right? It’s only their show.

ANYWAY, topics of discussion included my sexual proclivities, why I care so damn much about the quality of music videos, Rob’s mad interviewing skills, a Jewish holiday most Jews haven’t even heard of, and, oh yeah, we listened to some MUTHAFUCKIN’ BODY COUNT. Download the episode and revel in the fun.

FUCK TRANSFORMERS, LISTEN TO AXL ON TONIGHT’S METAL INJECTION LIVECAST!

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011 at 3:20pm by

Yep: I am going to be one the Metal Injection Livecast again tonight at 8 pm eastern/7 pm central! I think this is my… fourth? maybe fifth? time on the show, and we always have a blast. Basically, we get pretty fucked up, and then we talk about lots of random shit, some of it metal-related, some of it not, and then, hopefully, you guys are at home, also getting fucked up, listening in.

In fact, you can call in at 646-929-1357 if you wanna talk to us, or tell us how bad we suck, or whatever. The callers are usually the best part of the show, so definitely pick up that phone and give us a buzz.

It’s a Wednesday night in the summer. There’s nothing good on television, and let me spoil the end of Transformers 3 for you: the movie sucks, you get ripped off, and Heath Ledger dies at the end. There. Now you can listen to the Livecast for free instead of wasting money to see that piece of shit.

Listen here, tonight at 8 pm eastern/7 pm central. I promise some awesomeness.

WHAT DO THE RED CHORD AND THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN HAVE IN COMMON?

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011 at 2:30pm by

They’re both gonna have members on tonight’s extra-special 100th episode of the Metal Injection Livecast, that’s what!!!

From a press release (What, you think we actually like the Metal Injection dudes? We only communicate via press releases!):

“The Metal Injection Livecast will be celebrating a milestone tonight, 100 first run editions of the live podcast. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the crew will be joined by some great guests. In the first hour of the show, Ben Weinman and Greg Puciato of The Dillinger Escape Plan will call into the show, and in the second hour, Mike ‘Gunface’ McKenzie and Greg Weeks of The Red Chord will join the show. Fans will be able to listen live starting at 8pm Eastern Time, and interact with the guests via a live chatroom as well as by calling into the show directly, via our fan line at 646-929-1357. An archived version of the episode will be posted shortly after the conclusion of the show.”

So if you’ve ever wanted to talk to these dudes without threat of one of them killing you (Puciato is a short guy, but not a small guy), here’s your chance!  Call in, talk to Greg Weeks about football… I’m sure he’s not sick of that. But above all else, just make sure you listen.

LAST NIGHT’S METAL INJECTION LIVECAST WAS (FOUR) LOKO

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 at 10:00am by

When I walked into the Metal Injection Livecast last night about twenty minutes before we went on the air, Vince had already arrived. Almost immediately, I noticed the four cans of Four Loko on the table, and just as quickly, I knew that Vince had purchased them. I had seen Four Loko sold at stores before, but it has never even crossed my mind to try the shit. But that’s Vince for ya — where as some people might think, “Oh, that shit is about to be banned, I probably shouldn’t try it,” Vince thinks, “Oh, that shit is about to be be banned, I should try it!” And so try it we did.

And even though we all agreed that the crap tastes like a hippopotamus’ asshole, for whatever reason, we just. Kept. Drinking it. And the feeling it induced just kept getting worse and worse. It was like you were drunk AND had had twelve cups of coffee. Throw weed into the equation, and… ugh!

All of this nonsense was captured on air, along with plenty of other ridiculousness, during the Metal Injection Livecast. If you were too busy with your Hanukkah party to listen, you can now download it here, and live out your Four Loko nightmares vicariously through us.

LISTEN TO JUSTIN BROADRICK ON THE RADIO TODAY, LISTEN TO US ON THE WEBIO TOMORROW

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010 at 11:00am by

Hanukkah starts tomorrow!!! I can’t believe it’s time for dreidels and latkes again already. I got Vince a present. It’s socks. Shhh, don’t spoil the surprise.

To celebrate the Festival of Lights, we’re gonna be on the Metal Injection Livecast! Both of us! At once! Again! You’ll be able to listen to us talk about, like, metal n’ stuff. And I hear we may be lighting a menorah live on the air, despite the fact that it will be roughly three hours after sundown. You can even call in! We like the callers. Especially the heavy breathers. Purrrrrrrr.

So listen here. The show starts at 8pm Eastern Standard Time.

And as if that weren’t exciting enough, Justin Broadrick is going to be doing a THREE HOUR INTERVIEW with WFMU today from noon to 3pm EST. Holy shit, that’s awesome. If you live in the New York metropolitan area and wanna listen on your radio, the station is 91.1 FM. But don’t be sad if you don’t live in the New York metropolitan area and/or only listen to the radio on the interwebs nowadays, ’cause the interview will be live on those very same interwebs, too. Go here to listen.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go gargle with honey and then go on vocal rest to be properly prepared for our Metal Injection Livecast tomorrow evening.

GET YOUR FIX OF MEEK IS MURDER

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 at 2:30pm by

I saw Meek is Murder again on Sunday night; I think this is the fifth or sixth time I’ve seen them this year, although it might be more like the seventh. In any case, I’ve seen them perform a lot in 2010, and the gigs really never get old. There’s a fun drinking game to be had in doing a shot every time Frank Godla breaks a drum stick, or bassist Sam Brodsky crashes into the audience; this band feels truly spontaneous and unpredictable in a way most modern extreme music outfits do not. I am determined that as many Suckalos as possible will see this band live, or, at the very least, start listening to them.

The group guest-hosted the latest edition of “The Fix,” Metal Injection’s weekly video podcast, and you should all watch it below, ’cause, surprise surprise, they have great taste. Frank told me that this is the most number of videos to have ever been selected for an episode of “The Fix,” and, yet, it is still the shortest episode in the series’ history; that should surprise absolutely no one, given that MiM’s sets are so short (roughly twenty minutes, maybe even less), and a cover of Botch’s “Japam” is usually the longest song.

Watch more episodes of “The Fix” right here. And for the third time this article, in case you still haven’t clicked through, Meek is Murder on MySpace.

THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST IS FUCKIN’ EYAL-RIGHT

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at 12:00pm by

Vince and I left the Mansion a little early yesterday afternoon to take a little field trip, so we missed that our very good friend, Mr. Eyal Levi of Daath, was going to be on the Metal Injection Livecast! Bummer. Hopefully you’re all faithful Metal Injection readers and knew to listen-in anyways.

And if for some reason you aren’t, well, you can download an mp3 of the Livecast right here. Eyal gives the skinny on the new Daath album, talks about the band’s possible touring plans for the future, gives some tips on guitar tone, discusses why he’d never fuck a goat, and reveals that he doesn’t date Jewish girls, much to Noa’s apparent disappointment. Go listen.

And while we’re on the topic of Daath in the studio, I know some people have asked if I’m gonna write anything about my time visiting with the band last month; and the answer is, of course I am. We’ll have a SHIT LOAD of coverage… closer to the album’s release. So sit tight!

THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST: LISTEN TO US TALK ABOUT GARY SUAREZ

Thursday, July 15th, 2010 at 10:00am by

If you didn’t listen to the Metal Injection Livecast last night, well, shame on you. We had a blast. The phones were acting a little wonky, but it was still great to speak to a bunch of readers, including Shinaain, who I think has been leaving comments here for just about forever. It was pretty funny that so many people wanted to talk about Gary Suarez, given that neither of us are Gary Suarez, but, hey, maybe they can wrangle him into being on the show sometime.

In the meantime, you can now download an mp3 of the broadcast here. Thanks to Rob, Noa, Sid and Darren for having us! We’ll come by again sometime soon…

IF YOU DIDN’T LISTEN TO ME LIVE ON THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST LAST NIGHT…

Thursday, June 17th, 2010 at 10:00am by

…you can still download the show! I was incredibly fucked-up! We made fun of the new Slayer video! Discussed police brutality! Took a bunch of calls, including one from Stabitha Christie! Played “Thrash it or Trash It” using MetalSucks reader suggestions! EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said, download that shit here. Thanks again to Team MI for putting up with me.

AXL ON TONIGHT’S METAL INJECTION LIVECAST!

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at 4:00pm by

That’s right! You get to listen to my sexy voice again! WHOO-HOO! Don’t you feel privileged?

The livecast begins at 8 pm eastern/ 7 pm central, in case you found the banner directly above this text somehow confusing. You can even call-in and talk to us – the number is 646-929-1357. Last time some dude asked if we were embarrassed to have sponsored an Emmure tour; what silly queries will you have this time?

You can listen here. I won’t lie – if you don’t listen, my feelings will be a little hurt.

WHEN ROB HALFORD MET RICH HALLFORD

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 at 4:00pm by

Well, this is certainly a historic moment in metal history. MetalSucks’ own guru of love, Rich Hallford – who is heavily rumored to be 1000 Knives‘ Rich Hall – is on this week’s Noisecreep “Creep Show” podcast, where the special guest of honor was none other than Judas Priest’s Rob Halford. “Nights with Alice Cooper”‘ syndicated radio show producer Katherine Turman and Noisecreep scribes Jon Wiederhorn and Amy Sciarretto round out the panel.

But who cares about them?!?! You wanna hear Rob talk, and you wanna look at Rich’s pretty face. He’s so handsome, I just wanna pinch his cheeks. Face or buns, I don’t care.

Check out the episode below.

“DARREN?! DARREN?!?!

Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at 9:30am by

If you didn’t listen to Rich Hall from 1000 Knives and myself on last night’s Metal Injection Livecast – and shame on you if you didn’t – you can now download it here. Mostly we just goofed off and talked to callers, but I think we actually addressed some serious issues, too, like what it means when you see our logo on a tour poster, how just about any acapella metal cover that isn’t by Van Canto is good, and, uh… I think there was some other stuff. I don’t remember.

Is there such a thing as a hangover, only with weed? If there is, I have that. A weedover. A hempover? Whatever you’d call it.

Listen now.

AXL ROSENBERG AND RICH HALLFORD TO WREAK HAVOC ON THE METAL INJECTION LIVECAST TONIGHT!

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 at 3:30pm by

And by “wreak havoc,” I mean “get high and sit there pretty calmly and talk about metal.”

The last time I did the Livecast I had such a good time that I kept saying that I was gonna invite myself to sit-in more often; well, that was in July, so, y’know. Shit happens.

But I’m gonna be on tonight! And so will Rich Hall (who you may know as Rich Hallford) from 1000 Knives. And unlike the last time I did the show, the live player will be a high quality stream. You can even call-in and talk to us – the number is 646-929-1357. Last time I was on a lot of creepy, weird people called in, and I fully expect the same tonight.

The show starts at 8 pm eastern/7 pm central. You can (and should) listen here, if for no other reason than because I have a very, very sexy voice.

CRUSTCAKE STARTED A PODCAST!

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009 at 2:00pm by

Picture 16

Crustcake, one of our favorite metal sites that isn’t this one, has started a podcast. In addition to host/Crustcake regular The WZA’d, the inaugural edition features the great Cosmo Lee and Jess Blumensheid. I was invited to be a guest and couldn’t participate this week due to pre-Thanksgiving bullshit, but I hope that Vince and/or myself will be able to to join a future episode.

Check out the podcast here.

VINCE, AXL AND ATREYU ON NOISECREEP’S “CREEP SHOW”

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 at 10:02am by

Last week Vince and I guested on Noisecreep‘s “Creep Show” video podcast. You can watch the episode below.

In addition to the regular “Creep Show” gang – Noisecreep editor Seth Werkheiser, news columnist and writer Chris Harris, and Revolver senior writer and Noisecreep scribe Jon Wiederhorn – we joined call-in guests Brandon Saller and Alex Varwhateverthefuck from Atreyu. Because we were guests in someone else’s house, we decided to be polite and play nice with the Atreyu dudes… so apologies to anyone who was hoping we’d get into it with the metalcore (excuse me… “metallic rock”) band.

We had a lot of fun – in fact this was Vince’s second time on the show – and hope to visit with the Noisecreep family again real soon. Enjoy.

BLACK DAHLIA MURDER FANS: TUNE INTO TO TONIGHT’S METAL INJECTION LIVECAST

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009 at 4:30pm by

livecast-bdm

‘Cause the muthafuckin’ man himself, Trevor “Heartburn” Strnad, is going to call in. He’ll be discussing BDM’s excellent new album, Deflorate (in stores now!), taking questions from other callers, and participating in MI’s patented “Death or No Death” game, where you try to guess which death metal band names are real, and which ones are fake. The last time Rob Pasbani and the gang played that game, it was with The Red Chord’s Gunface, and he won. Can one Metal Blade artist who likes to act silly out perform another Metal Blade artist who likes to act silly? You’ll have to tune in to find out!

The show starts at 8 pm EST tonight; you can listen by going here. The Metal Injection Livecast is on Wednesday nights now, not Fridays, so you’re shit out of excuses to miss it!!!
