Sonic Temple Festival (Formerly Rock on the Range) Announces System of a Down, Meshuggah, Ghost, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage and More for 2019Many a Midwest heavy music fan shed a tear earlier this year when it was announced that the Rock on the Range festival would cease to exist after twelve years running. The news was a bit of a red herring, though, as the same announcement revealed that the festival would be replaced by the Sonic Temple Art + Music Festival to be held the same weekend at the same location (May 17th, 18th and 19th at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH). The re-branding was a result of a split between promoter Danny Wimmer Presents and co-producer AEG Live.

A press release that just landed in the MetalSucks inbox has revealed several of the bands slated to play the inaugural Sonic Temple, and from the looks of things it’s musically right in line with where Rock on the Range left off. Here’s the full list so far, which is very much in keeping with ROTR’s musical aesthetic:

Whew, that is QUITE a lineup (and it’s not even complete yet) and should certainly allay anyone’s fears that the transition from Rock on the Range to Sonic Temple would mean taking things in a less heavy direction.

Tickets go on sale on November 30th here and will be priced as follows:

· Weekend VIP: $379.50 plus fees
· Pillar Premium VIP Package: $1,949.50 plus fees (accommodations for 2)
· Weekend Field General Admission: $199.50 plus fees
· Weekend Stadium General Admission: $99.50 plus fees
· RV Camping: $250.00
