SWINE FLU TO AFFLICT HUNDREDS AT HIPSTER MUSIC FEST

Friday, May 1st, 2009 at 3:00pm by Gary Suarez

pigggggg

This provocative and entirely untrue headline was my way of:

1) capitalizing on the goodwill fostered by our previous swine flu posts,

2) letting you know that the recently reunited Boss Hog has joined the ATP NY weekender lineup, which also includes The Jesus Lizard, Melvins, Boredoms, and Black Dice.

Echoing my earlier sentiments about this overpriced music fest, even this new addition isn’t enough to convince me to shell out over $250 for tickets and a couple hundred more for accommodations. I mean, come on.

This news bodes well for noise rock enthusiasts following a robust year of notable reunions (Bailter Space, Killdozer!) and continues to see more such gigs this month from the likes of:

PROP UP VIDEO

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 3:04pm by Gary Suarez

If you’re like me, you likely spend a shitload of your time on The Internets, feverishly pleasuring yourself and plugging random phrases into The Google and other websites for cheap thrills. After learning from Brooklyn Vegan’s Black Bubblegum of some potential NYC-area shows from one-time Amphetamine Reptile act Boss Hog, I made my merry way to the Youtubes to watch some old videos. Much to my delight, some dedicated user has posted a ton of the old AmRep spots from its Dope, Guns, and Fucking Up Your Videodeck series. Check out some classy cuts below from Helmet, Today Is The Day, and the aforementioned Boss Hog. It’s not like you were going to do anything else today, right?
