ANOTHER FREE ALBUM FROM CELESTE!

Friday, April 16th, 2010 at 11:30am by

Seriously, I owe Cosmo Lee a beer.

Last year one of his columns at Invisible Oranges introduced me to the French black metal band, Celeste; their album, Misanthrope(s), was released on Denovali records, but was also made available as a free download, meaning you really had no excuse not to check these guys out. I fell really, really hard for the album; so much so that it ended up making my 2009 year-end list.

Now another Cosmo column has alerted me to the fact that the band as a new album, Morte(s) Nees(s) (which I think translates to Born Dead), and that, once again, the group and Denovali are giving it away for free. You can download it here; Misanthropes(s) is still available free of charge, too, so if you never checked that album out, well, here’s your chance.

I’m downloading Morte(s) Nees(s) even as I type this, so I can’t really comment yet with regards to how it stacks up against Misanthropes(s); but even if it’s only half as good, it will still be better than 99% of the shit that comes out in 2010. Go get it.

WHY HAVEN’T YOU DOWNLOADED CELESTE’S MISANTHROPE(S) YET?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 at 11:30am by

mislpBack in August, I wrote about Misanthrope(s), the latest offering from France’s Celeste; three months later, I’m even more in love with this album. And while I could waste your time with superlatives – epic, raw, beautiful, etc. – there’s no reason to, because THE ALBUM IS AVAILABLE AS A FREE, LEGAL DOWNLOAD and so there’s absolutely no reason for you not to give it a listen.

I can’t say enough nice things about this album, and it will very likely find its way onto my year-end list next month. Please please please please please do yourself a favor and check it out.

Also worth mentioning: if you dig after you’ve downloaded it, the art work that comes with the physical copy is beautiful, and totally worth the cost. Just sayin’.

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009 at 12:02pm by

mislpTo follow up on Vince’s French Metal Invasion post: everyone needs to check out Celeste. I first read about the band on Invisible Oranges but didn’t actually get around to listening to them until last night, and I’m glad that I did.
