Yesterday an advanced copy of the album by a certain nu metal band that shall go unnamed arrived at the MetalSucks Mansion. “Why the fuck would they send us this?” Vince wondered aloud, noting that we have never, ever, ever had anything nice to say about this particular group.

“Dude,” I countered, “At least we write about them. That’s more than I can say for most sites.”

Which got me to thinking: is there no one carrying the nu metal torch?

Apparently feeding the never-ending appetite for ’80s nostalgia (VH1 what?), IGN has released yet another Top 10 list, “Ten Great Hair Metal Power Ballads.” If nothing else, these lists always provide for great arguments (“OMG they included Stryper but not Skid Row?? WTF!!!”).

When the current wave of ’80s revivalism began (circa 2001), I had no idea it would last so long. Are we finally approaching the tail end? I mean, I loves me a good hair band, but good lord, enough already! My fear is that when the coming rap-metal revival hits (and, oh, you can bet that it will) it’ll last for anything longer than 2 seconds, which is 2 seconds too many IMO. Lord help us all.

Head on over to his auction page to check out the goods, including a signed L.A. Guns poster from 1989, pictured above (hands off the 1984 Van Halen poster!! That one’s MINE, bitches. We need decoration at the new MetalSucks Mansion.). Who would’ve thought that posters he bought for $9.95 in 1987 would be worth… $9.95 in 2007? Sigh.
