Yay, Vince is back! And guess what? Now it’s my turn to take a vacation! I haven’t had once since the summer of 2006, about six months before we started the site. So, yeah, I’m looking forward to getting away. Try not to miss me too much, m’kay?

And, oh yeah, it’s July 4 weekend, so we’re leaving early today and won’t be here Monday. That might be worth mentioning for non-American readers.

ANYWAY, here’s what we did this week:

• We debuted new music by Exhumed.
• Landphil from Municipal Waste and Cannabis Corpse pondered the CM Punk WWE Raw “shoot.”
• Our pals at Decibel spoke to the members of Cradle of Filth about about their album The Principle of Evil Made Flesh.
• We wondered why teenagers are still butthurt about Hot Topic in 2011.
• We celebrated the Stephen Colbert/Ted Nugent showdown.
• We checked out the first Portnoy-free Dream Theater song.
• We enjoyed some lulz at the expense of Staind and their record label.
• We bemoaned the fact that Behemoth’s Nergal is back on trial for tearin’ up a Bible.
• We celebrated the gloriousness that is the new Mastodon video.
• Best. “Show Us Your MetalSucks.” EVER.

And now it’s time to start partying. Lates.

The best thing about teenagers is that they take everything so seriously: whether it’s an upcoming math test, getting grounded, or missing out on seeing their favorite band this weekend, if they don’t get their way, the world is coming to an end. Everything is such a big deal!!

For example, as long as I can remember, kids have been getting mad about Hot Topic. Sometimes they’re mad because Hot Topic sells something that they like, other times they’re mad because Hot Topic doesn’t sell something they like… you never know. For example, they got butthurt 10-15 years ago because you could buy Hatebreed shirts at Hot Topic, and now they’re butthurt because there aren’t enough Hatebreed shirts at Hot Topic — so lulzy.

The main difference is that now teenagers have so many ways to express their stupidity on the internet, which is great for people like me who like laughing at them and how angry they get about trivial bullshit like what shirts they sell at the mall. In this post, I will share a few of my favorite Tumblr temper tantrums about Hot Topic — plenty of lulz after the break, and make sure to follow my Tumblr!

It used to be that if you wanted to know what you should buy, you would see what famous people liked, and buy whatever they said was cool — like how I originally got into Suicide Silence after I heard Demi Lovato talking about them. But now there is another way to find out what you should buy: shopping haul videos. A haul video is where someone goes shopping, then makes a YouTube video where they tell you about all the stuff that they bought. Usually they are really long, and made by young girls who like to talk about themselves. I don’t have a video camera, so I can’t make a video, but I thought it might be cool for you to see some of the stuff I bought at Hot Topic the other day in case you are thinking about doing any shopping and and wondering what is cool right now.
