But he, like, totally had it coming. He was the singer for some band called Beneath the Sky.

I’m kidding. I don’t endorse violence against untalented people. Just front row games of Uno.

ANYWAY, here’s some other shit we happened this week:

Next week we get to debut that video we were supposed to debut this week, and we have another stream, and some other stuff I’m probably forgetting. ‘Til then, enjoy your weekend!

IN WHICH WE REALLY MIGHT HAVE HAD THE WORST WEEK EVER

Friday, May 21st, 2010 at 5:00pm by

Dio died. Isis broke-up. Bret Michaels is back in the hospital. And I just used Dio, Isis, and Bret Michaels in one thought-stream, which, I’m sure, offended somebody.

Luckily, we did manage to have some fun this week:

And hopefully no one awesome will die or break-up next week.

To follow, pelase find the first installment. We hope you enjoy…

Here we go – ten (or so) hardcore albums that you should check out. I tried to touch on albums that made an impact on not just the hardcore/punk scene, but music in general. I know I left some out, but the list would have to be the top 3,000 to fit in every one. I also stayed away from any of our albums, ’cause that seemed cheesy, to put our own stuff on the list we were writing. So here they are, in no particular order:

IN WHICH WE SHAVED BELLADONNA’S BUSH

Friday, May 14th, 2010 at 5:00pm by

Yep, we talked a lot of smack on Joey Belladonna this week, much to the chagrin of, well, an awful lot of you. I think we’re done for a little while… but I can’t make any promises. Our job at MetalSucks is to amuse ourselves first and foremost, and, well, we thought it was pretty damned funny. So ppppfffftttt.

Here’s what else went down this week:

Alright. We’re gonna go get drunk and crank We’ve Come For You All in John Bush’s honor. Have a great weekend, everyone.

SICK OF IT ALL’S LOU KOLLER: THE METALSUCKS INTERVIEW

Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at 3:30pm by

Sick Of It All has been representing New York hardcore for well over two decades, refusing to become a nostalgia act by regularly releasing albums of new material. Whether you love them for their rough and riotous initial records, the more accessible punkier albums during their Fat Wreck Chords days, or the heavy metallic sounds of their 21st century records, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the voice of frontman Lou Koller. With the fierce and undeniably memorable Based on a True Story, Sick Of It All show no signs of mellowing as they mature, as the below interview indicates.

SICK OF IT ALL HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN “DEATH OR JAIL”

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 at 2:30pm by

Heard Sick of it All’s Based on a True Story yet? I’m not even a NYHC expert like our own Mr. Gary Suarez is or anything, and I think it’s a pretty rad. Simple, straight-forward, aggressive, makes me wanna punch someone in the teeth… what else could you possibly want from a Sick of it All album?

The band has released a new video for a track from the album, “Death or Jail.” I’d be lying if I said the title didn’t always make me think of that Eddie Izzard Spanish Inquisition bit (“Death or cake?”), but the song kicks all kinds of ass.

Based on a True Story is out now on Century. We’re still giving away a free mp3 of the track “Bent Outta Shape” here. Gary will have an interview with SOIA vocalist Lou Koller soon, and then next month we should have a special surprise from the band for you…
