DEVIN TOWNSEND REMIXES RAMMSTEIN’S “RAMMLIED”: EXCLUSIVE PREMIER

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010 at 1:00pm by

rammstein - ich tu dir wehHow does he do it? Between writing and recording four albums, touring, producing, taking over our site for an entire day and being a proud Canadian family man, Devin Townsend somehow still found time to do a remix of Rammstein’s track “Rammlied” from their oftentimes pornographic 2009 release Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da.

Rammstein are always good for some fun headbanging as is Mr. Townsend, and thankfully the results are as good in reality as they might seem on paper. Stream Devin’s remix, entitled “Rammlied: ‘Rammin’ The Steins’ Remix” below. The remix is actually one of four remixed tracks from Liebe Ist Fur Alle Da that are all included as “B sides” on the digital single for “Ich Tu Dir Weh,” available today on iTunes.

ANOTHER FUN RAMMSTEIN VIDEO

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 at 4:00pm by

No porn in this one, sorry folks. But Rammstein do seem to have a knack for aesthetically pleasing videos, even without the boobs and vag.

HANZEL UND GRETYL: AMERICAN RAMMSTEIN

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 at 12:30pm by

hanzel und gretylThe concept of another Rammstein strikes me as kinda silly, because, well, we’ve already got Rammstein. As far as industrial metal songs sung in German go, Rammstein fill that niche rather nicely. But here we’ve got Hanzel Und Gretyl — a band from New York City, no less, singing in faux German accents — doing the exact same thing. Only their songs aren’t as catchy, outrageous or hilarious.

It’s a head-scratcher indeed, but apparently the band has toured the world (with many bigger acts, Rammstein among them, natch), and they’ve got a hometown show coming up on December 19th at Crash Mansion. Maybe there’s a joke I’m just not in on… I don’t get it. Would someone care to inform me why this band exists?

COOKIE MONSTER VS. RAMMSTEIN

Friday, December 11th, 2009 at 3:00pm by

Rammstein seem to be the subjects of a whole lot of homemade viral videos lately (see also: this). Why exactly, I’m not sure. Perhaps it’s that the whole concept of the band is just kinda funny to begin with. And of course, those German accents!

Take this one originally posted on Metal Injection. Gold. I can only imagine the stoned though that occurred to this fine chap while he was watching his baby innocently play.

“WHAT MIGHT RAMMSTEIN LOOK LIKE IF THEY PLAYED SALSA MUSIC?”

Funny you should ask; MS reader Luis Flores Moreno sent us a video which explores this very idea. +1 for these kinds of mash-ups.

PROFILES IN EXCELLENCE: RAMMSTEIN

Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at 10:30am by

Be it their embarassing foray into “edgy” promotional items or their agonizingly dated sound, German industrial schtick-peddlers Rammstein sure know how to beat (off) a dead horse. Indeed, outside of their homeland, they are about as relevant to metal as other such laughable also-rans as Green Jelly and Hellyeah. The band’s recent single, the poignantly-titled “Pussy,” demonstrates an artistic stagnancy that would shame KMFDM and has about as much charm as a half-eaten McDonalds snack wrap plucked from the filthy floor of a New York City subway car. I guess what I’m trying to say is that Rammstein are the kind of band truly deserving of your dismissive yawns.

RAMMSTEIN: “TAKE YOUR PUNY ‘SPECIAL EDITIONS’ AND SHOVE ‘EM UP YOUR VAGINA”

Friday, October 9th, 2009 at 12:30pm by

Y’know how these days all these bands release special editions of shit in an effort to give their fans a lil’ sumpin’ extra so they’ll buy a physical copy of the album? Usually they come with a poster or a DVD or maybe a cool box or a USB or whatever.

Well, this is the one for Rammstein’s. It probably won’t surprise anyone who saw the “Pussy” video that’s not really safe for work.

RAMMSTEIN SHOW YOU THEIR “PUSSY” AND GET “RAMMLIED”

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 at 1:00pm by

rammstein pussy single coverDid you guys see Rammstein’s new porn flick music video “Pussy” last week? If not… make sure you do so… in the privacy of your own home. NOT SAFE FOR WORK. We warned you this time, OK?

“Pussy” is available on iTunes as of today, and when you purchase it you’ll also receive the “Rammlied” b-side track and a digital booklet. ‘Cause we’re all about “try it before you buy it” ’round here, we’re exclusively streaming “Rammlied” in full below. It sounds exactly like what you’d expect, and we mean that in the best of ways; big stomping guitar riffs, synths, German lyrics, and the constant repetition of the band’s name. RAMM. STEIN.

FOR RAMMSTEIN, SIZE DOES MATTER IN PORNOGRAPHIC NEW MUSIC VIDEO (NOT SAFE FOR WORK!!!)

Thursday, September 17th, 2009 at 10:10am by

rammstein - pussyIf this is a publicity stunt to get people talking about the band after such a long time away, it’s working. The outrageous album artwork was only the tip of the, um, iceberg… Rammstein have gone and released a 4-minute porn flick and called it a music video.

“You have a pussy, I have a dick-uh! So what’s the problem? Let’s do it quick.” Add funny German accents, lots of tits, pussy, bondage, and a song that’s so ridiculously over the top, cheesy and catchy… and I’d say we’ve got a winner!

Rammstein seem to want  you to visit their website to watch the video — or, rather, I guess the uncensored version is way too obscene to ever get through YouTube’s screens — so check it out here, then come back and tell us what you think. Wow.

RAMMSTEIN GET “PUSSY”

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 at 11:30am by

This image came from a Rammstein fan e-mailer that MS Maniac Anthony Read forwarded to us. It’s an announcement of the song “Pussy” as Rammstein’s new single.

Now, some of the more dim-witted amongst you will undoubtedly have reactions akin to those of a second grader. Personally, I think the photo is awesome. It’s freaky as fuck, but in the best possible way – in fact, one of the best things about is that it’s sure to give homophobic metalheads the heebie jeebies. Sure, it’s Aphex Twin already did something really similar, but our freunde in Rammstein take it that much further than Richard D. James did.

I’m not really a big Rammstein fan, but this actually makes me wanna hear “Pussy.”

SYMPHONIC METAL IS A GOOD TOOL TO HELP SELL YOUR MOVIE

Monday, January 28th, 2008 at 11:22am by

I don’t know who cuts the trailers for Oscar nominated director Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy franchise, but good for them for realizing the cinematic possibilities of metal that incorporates an orchestra. For 2004′s original Hellboy, the ad campaign utilized Dimmu Borgir’s “Progenies of the Great Apocalypse” and “Eradication Instincts Defined;” for the sequel, which will be released this summer, the ad campaign is based largely around Rammstein’s “Mein Herz Brennt” (which actually translates to “My Heart Burns” – you gotta wonder why Mylanta didn’t think to use the song in one of their commercials, first). Whether or not the movie is as cool as the music makes it seem it will be (got all that?) remains to be seen.

ANYWAY, seeing the Hellboy II trailer over the weekend reminded me what a good song this is, so here’s a clip of Rammstein performing the track live. As a bonus, after the jump, find the trailers for Hellboy and Hellboy II.
