CINEMETAL ROUND-UP: NEW VIDEOS FROM AMEBIX, CHTHONIC, SAMAEL, CATALEPSY, AND HELLFIGHTER

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at 4:00pm by

I’m going to put about as much effort into this introduction as King and Hanneman put into writing coherent solos.

We’re actually gonna begin today with two videos that are really cool, before moving onto the total crap.

The first cool video — and the cooler or the two cool videos — is Amebix’s clip for “Knights of the Black Sun.” Sometimes it seems a bit literal-minded (when vocalist Rob Miller sings about time, we see a clock, when he sings about birds frozen in flight, we see a flying bird, etc.), and the storyline could have maybe used some more variation (there really are a LOT of shots of that flying bird), but the visuals are so fantastic that it ultimately doesn’t matter.

AXL WADES “IN THE DEEP” WITH SAMAEL

Friday, March 25th, 2011 at 12:30pm by

Okay so honestly I’m not really that knowledgable about Samael; they’re one of those bands that falls under the category of “there are just too many bands for me to know them all.”

But I just checked out the new song they have streaming on their MySpace page, “In the Deep,” and it’s so gosh darn catchy that I think I’m gonna hafta familiarize myself with them.

I mean, the track is nothing you haven’t heard before. It’s epic black metal with a typically ancient-sounding bent to it. But like I said, it’s just so damn catchy… as soon as I was done listening to it the first time, I wanted to listen again immediately. That’s always a good sign.

Headbang here. “In the Deep” comes off of Samael’s new album, Lex Mundi, which comes out April 29 in Europe and May 3 in North America via Nuclear Blast.

A SONG ABOUT COURTNEY LOVE’S VAGINA

Friday, October 2nd, 2009 at 10:00am by

Man oh man, does that Samael concert in this video for “Black Hole” look like fun. Or, at least, what I can see of it looks like fun, when the director isn’t trying to give me a seizure from flashing shit at me.

Seriously, why not just put out a cool performance video? ‘Cause this is just weak.

Not a bad song, though. Not bad at all.

MOONSPELL, SAMAEL AND BOOK OF BLACK EARTH TO HIT AMERICA ON METALSUCKS-SPONSORED FALL TOUR!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009 at 10:59am by

moonspell samael tourJust because all the big bands are partying over at the European festivals at the moment doesn’t mean we aren’t already looking forward to the Fall,* when Moonspell, Samael and Book of Black Earth hit North America for a MetalSucks-sponsored run of dates this October and November. The “Night Eternal Above America” tour is an early candidate for one of the most exciting lineups of the Fall, and also features Germany’s Secrets of the Moon. Moonspell and Samael are pretty much legends at this point yet I’ve not seen either band live; I saw the final minute of Book of Black Earth’s set at this Spring’s New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and instantly wished I’d caught the whole thing. We’ll have exclusive news, giveaways and more for the Night Eternal Above America tour as the dates draw closer.

Check out the list of confirmed dates after the jump.
