SENOR BIVINGS RELEASES INCREDIBLY SHITTY SONG; GETS A JOB AT WALMART

Monday, August 2nd, 2010 at 12:40pm by

Senor Bivins is an internet personality best known for doing vocal covers of deathcore songs on Youtube (see previous coverage on MetalSucks and Stuff You Will Hate), as well as not having a sense of humor. If you’re curious what he’s been up to lately, here’s a quick update!

In this video, he reveals that he now has a driver’s license, a new job as a stocker at Walmart, and generally seems pretty high on himself — makes me think of the Vandals song “Movin Up”

So I don’t think this exactly news as I’m assuming that someone who isn’t me already knew this, but reader Cody Barrick has just tipped us off that our favorite YouTube vocal coverist (I know, I made up a word, eat me), Senor “Deathcore is Not Scene” Bivins, has his own band – What Lies Beneath. Yes, they named themselves after a Michelle Pfeiffer movie. But at least it’s a Michelle Pfeiffer movie with (SPOILER ALERT!) ghosts and a murderous Harrison Ford, and not, say, a Meryl Streep movie about how hard it is to make it in the fashion world. Also, a blog posting from earlier this month promises that they will soon have a new band name – I’d like to suggest they go with I Could Never Be Your Woman. Just sayin’.

HOW TO MAKE IT BIG AS A DEATHCORE YOUTUBE VOCAL COVER ARTIST

Friday, November 20th, 2009 at 11:30am by

Sometimes we get so caught caught up in minutae inside our little metal Internet bubble that we lose perspective on the bigger picture. Take this lampoon video from Current.com that highlights deathcore YouTube vocal covers (including our favorite, SeƱor Bivins) and mocks the differences between deathcore, death metal and metalcore. I’m pretty sure the guy in the video “gets” it and is playing dumb to make a point… but let’s be honest with ourselves; while the minutae between these micro-genres may seem important to us now, 200 years from now people aren’t going to give a flying fuck. By then it’ll all just be called “early 21st century metal” or some equally all-inclusive blanket term that disregards all the differences we argue about on a daily basis. It’s all just dudes screaming over loud guitars and fast drums in the end.

Anyway, this video is pretty funny. If there’s one thing we and the presumably indie rock-centric audience this video is geared towards can agree on, it’s that deathcore scene kids are fucking stupid.
