STILL REMAINS CAN READ LIPS

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 12:30pm by

I’ve never been a Still Remains fan. I think Vince dug at least one of their albums, but I can’t seem to find a post confirming this. And while we reported on their break-up in 2008, we never reported that they were getting back together, which I guess is an indication of the level of enthusiasm the MetalSucks staff felt for the reunion.

ANYWAY, now the band has release a new song, “Reading Lips,” which, uh… yep, sure does sound like Still Remains. If you’ve been longing for early 21st century-style metalcore, you are gonna be so happy with this tune your genitals might explode.

Still Remains – Reading Lips by Still Remains

Presumably this means there’s a new Still Remains album coming out this year, but I don’t have details on that right now. If any of you do, please feel free to e-mail them to someone who is not me.

SO THE WORST REALLY WAS YET TO COME

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008 at 11:00am by

Christian metalcore/screamo/whatever act Still Remains are breaking up after their headlining gig at the upcoming Cornerstone Festival. A statement reads in part:

“It’s been an amazing run but we are done for personal reasons. No, we don’t hate each other or want to punch each other in the face. It’s just time for us to move on to different things in our lives.”

So, no really juicy gossip there. Unless someone knows something we don’t, in which case they should e-mail us at news [at] metalsucks.net and dish.

ANYWAY, I never really liked this band – in fact, the word “mediocre” immediately springs to mind when I think of them. But I know they had their fans, including one Mr. Vince Neilstein. So to help those of you who dug ‘em struggle through the mourning process, here’s their video for “The Worst is Yet to Come.”

AS I LAY DYING TO EMBARK ON TOUR WITH THREE BANDS EVEN LESS INTERESTING THAN THEY ARE

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 at 10:01am by

I was conflicted about whether or not to go see As I Lay Dying on their most recent trek; I could give a fuck about AILD themselves (Vince and I utilized the time they were on stage at Ozzfest a few years back to go get a beer), but All That Remains and Through the Eyes of the Dead were also on the bill, so that seemed like it could be fun. Ultimately, I decided to sit the gig out, since both All That Remains shows I’ve seen have been anticlimactic, and I figure TTEOTD will be touring behind their super sweet Malice for some time to come.

I won’t feel any such indecision about AILD’s upcoming tour, however: the band has enlisted August Burns Red, Evergreen Terrace and Still Remains – aka the Moe, Larry and Curly of generic metalcore bands – as support. The tour doesn’t even have an NYC stop yet, but there’s a gap in the itinerary on January 27, right around the time the band will be playing D.C. and Philly, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say they’ll be rolling through the Nokia in Times Square right around then.

I’ve already marked that night as one I can stay home and watch Family Guy – but just in case I change my mind, I figure that letting Vince run an electric drill right next to my ear for about three hours will provide roughly the same experience as attending the gig.
