METALSUCKS & BRING BACK GLAM! PRESENT THE TEN BEST MUST-HAVE GLAM METAL ALBUMS: DAY THREE

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 at 3:00pm by

You’ve been reading the MetalSucks/Bring Back Glam! countdown of the 10 Best Must-Have Glam Metal Albums this week (part one here, part two here), so you’ve noticed that our Anso DF and BBG! chief Allyson B. Crawford’s Glam-crazy chemistry is like one of those Tarantino scenes where rogues trade passionate dissertations on Madonna or armed robbery. Or maybe it’s more like those Kevin Smith monologues about farting. One of those. Ahem. Oh, hey look it’s the number four album!

4. REST IN SLEAZE - Crashdiet

May 20, 2005 // Universal Records // p: Anders Ringman, Chris Laney, Grizzly/Tysper

The hits: “Riot In Everyone” “Knokk ‘Em Down” “Breakin’ the Chainz” “It’s A Miracle”

The heart: “Queen Obscene/69 Shots” “Tikket” “Out of Line”

Anso: I’ve been dying to talk to you about this record! Its appearance on our list blows me away for the following reasons:

Reason #1 – It was not released in the ’80s. Not even the ’90s. And yet you imply that it’s more vital to a respectable glam metal library than a hundred great records from the genre’s days of glory? Even here you rank it higher than freaking Appetite! Explain yourself!

Allyson: Total mind freak, right? I’m sure the haters will be out on this one! Singer Dave Lepard was simply way ahead of his time. Then again, Sweden is the fertile crescent of Glam Metal these days. The kids over there know how to write a catchy riff. Crashdiet was the first Glam Metal band to be signed to a major label (Universal) in over a decade.

ONE LAST POST FROM JAMEY JASTA BEFORE THE DAY IS THROUGH

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010 at 11:59pm by

What’s up everyone! In celebration of the new KINGDOM OF SORROW album coming out today, MetalSucks have been nice enough to let me takeover their site! I figured I’d better make the reading interesting and at least cause some discussion, so here goes, this is probably the longest run on sentence you’ll ever read, haha, enjoy!

Since we’re well into 2010. I figured I’d start my blog with my top ten “most listened to” metal and hardcore albums of the last decade, and the top ten albums I hope to enjoy this decade!!! It’s not a top ten “best of” the decade or anything like that, it’s just what I’ve listened to the most while on the road, at home, in the gym, in the office or in my car. Keep in mind that the criteria for these albums to make this list was that they were released between 2000 and 2010, that is all.

The top 10 records I’m “most hopeful & excited for” are more like a wish list. It will be cool to see some of that stuff happen!

WHAT IF… THE MISFITS HAD BEEN A FOLK BAND?

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 at 4:00pm by

In the classic comic book tradition, “What If…” stories were ones that existed outside of the Marvel Universe. Consider this then: WHAT IF… THE MISFITS HAD BEEN A FOLK BAND?

Here’s your answer:

If you like what you hear, you can buy Scream With Me, Pajo’s LP+CD of Misfits covers, via Black Tent Press.

SATURDAY SONG TO GET JACK O’LANTERNED TO: THE MISFITS – “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD”

Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at 3:34pm by

Much like The Misfits, I’ll keep this short and sweet: if you haven’t carved that pumpkin yet, today prolly oughta be the day…

This is the title track from The Misfits’ 3rd EP, and it was released on Halloween Eve, 1979, at NYC’s (now-corporate-owned-The-Fillmore-at-) Irving Plaza, where Vince and I triumphantly caught Protest the Hero play the other night with chugga-chugga-breakdownsters Unearth. In the interest of full disclosure, I have to admit that while PtH was onstage expertly slaying their intricate melo-tallic proggery, I did notice Vince in a dark corner pleasuring himself.

Happy November, y’all — bundle up, storms a comin…
