CONVERGE ARE GOING ON TOUR

Friday, February 3rd, 2012 at 10:00am by

Converge are in the studio right now, and have just announced a two-week tour that will kick off on April 1. And in case you’re retarded, that obviously means they’re going to have completed their new album sometime in March. (Unless they’re doing some Metallica-esque “Escape from the Studio” deal, but I find that unlikely.)

Hopefully that means they’ll unveil some new material at these shows, but even if not, whatever, it’s Converge. They are a rabid dog attack live, so you should go see them one way or the other.

Support is coming from Loma Prieta and Git Some on all shows, with other various cool bands, including Ringworm, Deafheaven, and Weekend Nachos, also participating when regionally convient.

Here are dates, via Lambgoat:

A389 RECORDINGS VIII ANNIVERSARY BASH: OH, TO LIVE IN BALTIMORE!

Friday, January 13th, 2012 at 11:30am by

If you live near Baltimore and you just can’t wait for Maryland Death Fest, great news: there’s ANOTHER ridiculously cool fest coming to destroy your town next week! Its’s the A389 Recordings VIII Anniversary Bash, and as you can see from the above poster, the line-up is disgusting: Eyehategod and Integrity are co-headlining, while other bands on bill include Gehenna, Pulling Teeth, Magrudergrind, Weekend Nachos, and a ton of other excellent artists.

It’s a very rare occurrence that I wish I lived in Baltimore. This is one of those times.

Tickets are currently on sale here, and if for some reason you don’t know these bands or you’re not sold on the line-up, you can listen to a sweet, sweet A389 Recordings VIII Anniversary Bash playlist at Stereokiller. Heck, you might just wanna listen to it even if you can’t make it to the show, ’cause it’s an awesome playlist.

Finally, you can also go here to get more info on A389 Recordings.

WEEKEND NACHOS ARE GOING ON TOUR

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012 at 3:00pm by

I somehow STILL have never seen Weekend Nachos live. But their albums, which are just like this big lumps of vile and fuck you, are so goddamn great I hope to remedy that soon.

Like, very soon — ’cause the band just announced a string of Eastern U.S. tour dates, which will kick off in just a couple of weeks. I have no idea what other bands will be playing these gigs, but Weekend Nachos alone should more than enough to lure you to a show.

Here are dates, courtesy of Lambgoat:

MDF MEMORIES: JOHN FROM WEEKEND NACHOS

Friday, May 21st, 2010 at 4:30pm by

MDF Memories

We’re just one week away from Maryland Deathfest 2010, which will take place from May 28-30 in (duh) Baltimore, Maryland. This year’s edition of the annual fest promises to be the best one yet, with a line-up that includes Gorguts, Autopsy, Obituary, Entombed, Sodom, Repulsion, D.R.I., and a ton of other kick-ass bands. In anticipation of the event, we thought it would be fun to get some recollections of past MDFs from artists who were there. So we’re teaming up with Relapse Records to do just that! Read the raucous inaugural entry by Matt from Rumpelstiltskin Grinder, memories of a jam-packed day from Tomas Lindberg of Disfear (and At the Gates), how Pete Benumb of Agenda of Swine got swindled, and the latest entry from John of Weekend Nachos, below.

Least memorable thing about MDF 2009:

I saw Bolt Thrower play and not one single person moshed. This, to me, was a travesty. The fact that some of the hardest music of all time is being played and metalheads are too boring to even move their dirty feet is beyond insane to me.

I doubt it mattered either way to Bolt Thrower, considering they were up there doing their thing and being evil as fuck no matter what and totally blowing everybody away, but still… if this were a room full of hardcore kids you would’ve seen some serious blood in the pit. Major letdown. I expect violence during a band like Bolt Thrower. Even some old man push-mosh would’ve been better than nothing! Pantera and Slayer shows at least have old dudes being ignorant and beating each others’ brains out.

THIS COMP KILLS FASCISTS VOL. 2 PROMISES TO BE EVEN MORE KILL-FASCISTSIER

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 at 2:30pm by

2008′s Scott Hull-compiled This Comp Kills Fascists was pretty much the best thing ever; it seemed to feature half the world’s best grind/powerviolence/hardcore/whateverthefuck bands (Brutal Truth, Magrudergrind, Insect Warfare, etc.), and even introduced me to at least one awesome band with whom I was not previously familiar (Weekend Nachos). Also, the album art had a picture of George W. Bush with a swastika made out of cocks coming out of his head, so it’s hard not to get behind that as one of the greatest artistic achievements of the modern age, or possibly just recorded history in general.

Now Hull is curating (can you curate a metal comp?) a second volume, which Relapse will release in North America on June 22, and in Europe on June 28. You can pre-order a copy here. The tracklist hasn’t been released just yet, but announced bands include Lack of Interest, Noisear, Drugs of Faith, Apartment 213, Despise You, Triac, Social Infestation, and Crom. Some of those bands I already know and some I don’t, but it doesn’t matter – Scott Hull has impeccable taste. This comp is going to kill a lot more than just fascists.

No word on which political figures will be getting the genitalia treatment this time out.

WEEKEND NACHOS? BUT IT’S ONLY THURSDAY!

Thursday, April 29th, 2010 at 11:30am by

Weekend Nachos’ MySpace page describes the band’s music as “Zouk/Chinese traditional,” and while that’s (obviously) not accurate, as Crustcake notes, it wouldn’t be accurate to call the band “hardcore” anymore, either: “this shit sounds more like Goatsnake than it does Crossed Out.” The band has a new 12″ EP, Bleed, and they’re “hoping it will be out by June sometime.”

While we wait for an official release date, the band is streaming the title track here. This is the kind of thing which’ll put hair on your chest. Definitely give it a listen and let us know what you think.

WESTERN WEEKEND NACHOS

Monday, November 9th, 2009 at 3:30pm by

Weekend+Nachos

I’ve never seen Weekend Nachos live, but I would very much like to someday. Relapse Records – who have had a fucking AMAZING 2009* -put out their album Unforgivable earlier this year, and it kills. If the band can do anything to re-create that energy in a live setting, I bet bucket loads of blood, sweat, and healthy releases of raw aggression will ensue.

The band is setting out on a tour at the end of the month, and, just my luck, it’s not coming close to New York – most of the dates are out west. But I implore you to go see Weekend Nachos if you can, so that I can live vicariously through you, my beloved readers.

Dates after the jump.

EXCLUSIVE FREE MP3 OF WEEKEND NACHOS’ “NIGHTS”

Friday, August 14th, 2009 at 2:00pm by

unforgivable

Chicago’s Weekend Nachos play furious, grimy, fuck-you Hardcore with a capital “H,” and they ended up being one of the stand-out bands on last year’s Scott Hull compiled This Comp Kills Fascists. Now the band has a jugular-ripping good new album, Unforgivable, dropping September 1 on Relapse, and your Uncles Axl and Vince have your first taste: a free mp3 of the track “Nights.” Is it pretty? Hell no. Does it absolutely kill? Hell yes.

You can pre-order Unforgivable here. Weekend Nachos head out on tour at the end of August; check out their MySpace page for a complete list of dates.

WEEKEND NACHOS SUFFER A RELAPSE

Friday, July 31st, 2009 at 3:00pm by

7068CD_216Weekend Nachos, one of our most favoritest grind acts out there right now, have signed with Relapse. This is excellent news, as it will surely lead to the band gaining a greater amount of exposure. And this band deserves exposure.

Their new album is called Unforgivable, and will be released on September 1. Holy shit, September is just overflowing with awesome releases, isn’t it?

You can check out two songs off of Unforgivable, “Pain Over Acceptance” and “Shot in the Head,” here. They’re awesome. Go check ‘em out.

You can – and should – pre-order Unforgivable here. It will cost you all of eight bucks. Totally worth it, duders.

START YOUR WEEKEND WITH NACHOS. MMM… NACHOS…

Friday, April 17th, 2009 at 4:00pm by

If you’re not following us on Twitter, you’re missing out on Vince’s life blow-by-blow of this weekend’s New England Metal and Hardcore Fest. I think he’s currently watching Trap Them   (a group no less a source a than Napalm Death’s Barney Greenway told me last weekend restored his faith in heavy music) and trying to figure out what the big deal is.

Here’s a band we don’t need to figure out the appeal of: Weekend Nachos. Melty cheesy grindy goodness… yum. If this doesn’t get you ready to fuck shit up this weekend, nothing will.
