VIDEO OF THE DAY: FAITH NO MORE “CAFFEINE” LIVE

1

Back when MTV actually played music, they sometimes had bands come into the studio to play for a live studio audience. Such was the case when Faith No More appeared on “Hanging with MTV” to promote their new album Angel Dust sometime in the second half of 1992. I chose “Caffeine” mostly because it was the only decent performance footage I could find of the band performing material from Angel Dust while zany guitarist Jim Martin was still in the band, but this song is a fucking screamer all the way through. Mike Patton’s performance here is totally on point and directly proves why he accidentally inspired an entire generation of nu-metallers. It’s hard to believe that bands this heavy and this innovative ever got airplay on MTV, let alone were invited into the studio to film a live performance.
