I GUESS IF ANGELINA JOLIE CAN PLAY A BLACK WOMAN, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE

Angelina Jolie is playing Marianne Pearl, widow of beheaded Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl, in the upcoming bio-drama A Mighty Heart. Pearl, in case you don’t know, is of Afro-Cuban descent – in other words, of all the words one could use to describe her, “white” isn’t really one of them. Amazingly, no one in the press seems to have found Jolie’s casting odd (either that, or they’re keeping their mouths shut due to fear of Brad Pitt’s wrath) – little people everywhere were disappointed that Peter Jackson didn’t cast them in Lord of the Rings, but Jolie performing in black face is a-okay. Just goes to show ya: in America, you really can follow your dreams.

So: Alabama Thunderpussy have announced they will be touring with W.A.S.P. this summer. This strikes me as kind of a weird pairing, especially considering they’ll begin a tour with Lamb of God, Hatebreed, and 3 Inches of Blood immediately thereafter. That being said, I hope it inspires some more 80s/Aughties pairings real soon – God Forbid touring with Ratt, perhaps?
