NEW YORK CITY LIVE METAL SCENE HAVING A REALLY GOOD WEEK

As a matter of fact, this is the best week in quite a while:

BTBAM logoHalloween brings the explosive proto-tech metal stylings of Between The Buried And Me, playing this Wednesday at the Blender Theatre with our guest contributer-from-the-road Horse the Band opening. You just might catch a glimpse of yours truly sousing it up by the bar. Colors, BTBAM’s latest recording, released just last month, is absolutely stellar in scope and sound, and their not-to-be-missed live show is most definitely the pick of the week. Check out some of their amazing new tracks on myspace, and for maximum information-ocity be sure to read Vince’s August interview with BTBAM’s bass player Dan Briggs.

However, if strong metal chix are more your cup of tea, perhaps you ought to head over to the Knitting Factory on Wednesday for another rare appearance by all-female Slayer tribute band Slaywhore.

isis itaot coverOn Thursday the recommendation is to smoke a bat hit in Union Square Park and make your way over to Irving Plaza, where atmospheric metal masters Isis will blow your mind for their 10th Anniversary Show extravaganza (27 and Oxbow opening). Just caught Isis for the first time earlier this year, and while it was worth the wait, I quickly realized that this is a band to see every fucking chance one gets. No wonder TOOL has taken ’em out on the road so many times.

A week of back-to-back epic greats like this happens only every once in a blue moon, so take advantage and get out there and throw down!
