ANOTHER SUPER-DUPER TUESDAY FOR METALHEADS

40

Holy CRAP, there are a lot of awesome metal albums out today. Below, a list of albums that just hit shelves (or iTunes, if that’s how you roll) that could be worthy of your hard earned moolah:

  • Arson Anthem, Arson Anthem (Housecore) — Phil Anselmo’s hardcore side-project, recorded in a basement! Read Axl’s review.
  • Genghis Tron – Board Up the House (Relapse) — New record from everyone’s favorite electro-grindmetal band. Read Axl’s review.
  • Ascension of the Watchers – Numinosum (13th Planet) — Ambient music from Fear Factory singer Burton C. Bell. Read Vince’s review.
  • Hate Eternal – Fury and Flames (Metal Blade) — Erik Rutan’s (ex-Morbid Angel) brutal death metal attack. Read Axl’s review.
  • Dead to Fall – Are You Serious? (Victory) — Hardcore mayhem doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Read Axl’s review.
  • Farewell to Freeway – Definitions (Victory) — Something on Victory that likely has to do with “metal” and “core.”
  • Across Five Aprils – Life Underwater (Victory) — See Farewell to Freeway, above.
  • 3 – The End Is Begun (Metal Blade) — Superior intellectual prog-rock from “that other band” on the Progressive Nation tour.
  • Ekotren – Light the Fire (Blind Prophecy) — Hooky alt-metal from the new Florida quintet.
  • This Is Hell – Misfortunes (Trustkill) — Beats me.
  • Kingdom of Sorrow – Kingdom of Sorrow (Relapse) — Collabo between Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and Kirk Windstein (Crowbar) has some highlights but disappoints overall. Read Axl’s review.
  • Sculptured – Embodiment (The End)
  • Virgin Black – Mezzo- Fortissimo (The End) — Third installment in a series from Australian orchestral doomsters. Read Axl’s review.
