MIKE JUSTIAN AVAILABLE FOR WHITE LION REUNION

Drummer Mike Justian is out of The Red Chord… again. I guess in all fairness, it was never really clear if this founding member was re-joining the band on a permanent basis, or if he was just filling-in after Brad Fickeisen split with the group last year. Then again, Justian’s been back in TRC for over a year, which seems like a long-ass time to just be filling-in. And even as a massive fan of the band, it’s certainly funnier to think of Red Chord skinsmen in Spinal Tap terms, spontaneously combusting at random intervals.

But fuck do I know? A statement from the band certainly makes the split sound amicable:

“We’ve parted ways with our old friend and original drummer, Mike Justian. It was awesome jamming with him as always and our split is totally mutual. We wish Mike the best! We’re excited to announce that Jon Rice (Charn) of Job For A Cowboy will be playing drums for us on the upcoming Trap Them/Gaza tour. Jon is an exceptional drummer and we’re excited to play some shows with him.”

So it’s good that the band seems to have split with Justian on amicable terms (again). And regular MS readers already know that Charn gets on well with The Red Chord boys, so it will be fun watching him take over drumming duties, however temporarily — he has to re-join JFAC for their MetalSucks-sponsored tour with Between the Buried and Me, The Ocean, and (on select dates) Cephalic Carnage starting in April, so in theory, at least, he should be spared the fiery, apparently-without-cause death that all previous Red Chord drummers have suffered.
