READER’S CHOICE RANDOMS: ZERO DEGREE, WIDE EYES, AND ANORAK

So on Monday I said I was gonna try and catch up with some of the reader suggestions you fine folks have been sending us, and then yesterday I didn’t get to do one because there was, like, actual news to write about. But now we get back down to the business of listening to music that you guys swear up and down is awesome!

And so, once upon (really in the last week or so) in galaxy far, far away (really just this galaxy)…

Max Miller e-mailed us to say that Germany’s Zero Degree will restore our faith in melodeath. Alas, no such luck. This band is wholly unoriginal, if not inept. I just got back from vacation so I’m not feeling burned out so I’m not feeling as much animosity towards this band as I might have a month ago or may one month from now, but I can’t really recommends them or anything.

Thomas Capretta asked us to check out his friend’s band, Wide Eyes, but, alas, Thomas did not warn us that his friend’s band plays insanely generic Sumeriancore. So the bad news for Thomas and Wide Eyes is that I don’t like the band, and the good news for Thomas and Wide Eyes is the group should be signed and successful by this time next year.

Finally (for today), Joe Caperon recommended we check out Anorak, I guess because he wanted to prove that metallicized hardcore beardo bands can be generic, too. Again, this band doesn’t suck or anything — they’re probably my favorite of all the reader-suggested bands I’ve written about today — I just can’t imagine ever actively listening to them when there’s already like ten-thousand other bands doing the same thing, and doing the same thing with better songs. Sorry!

Aight. I’ll try to do some more of these tomorrow. In the meantime, feel free to keep e-mailing us suggestions… as though you needed our permission.
