MOST INADVERTENTLY HILARIOUS VIDEO EVER OF THE WEEK: AXEL RUDI PELL’S COVER OF LEONARD COHEN’S “HALLELUJAH”

Axel Rudi Pell’s cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” is terrific*, and now it has a video of the highest possible quality to equal the sheer emotional force of the recording. What I like about this video isn’t just that the singer, Axlistoolazy Tolookuphisname, emotes with same skill as Tobias Funke — it’s that ARP also a) may be single handedly keeping the German wind machine industry in business, and b) was nice enough to hire all the tween girls from Chappaqua that went to Jew Camp with me to be in his choir.

“Hallelujah” is just one of the many soothing sounds that ultimately made me decalre ARP’s new album, The Bullshit IV, the best of the year. It comes out out September 27 on SPV.
