VAN HALEN MAY HAVE SIGNED WITH INTERSCOPE

According to Metal Insider, there’s a rumor going around that the mostly-reunited Van Halen have signed a deal with Interscope Records to release their new album. And since Metal Insider is a great website that specializes in being on, y’know, the inside, I am leaning towards believing them that this rumor exists, and may even be not a rumor at all but the actual truth.

Of course, I don’t especially care. At the end of the day, a new Van Halen album could come out on Profound Lore, and I’d be skeptical of its quality until I heard it. I mean, I hate to be cynical (cough, cough), but these dudes haven’t made a good record since 1991, for fuck’s sake, and the fact that David Lee Roth is back in the band does not necessarily mean jack shit. (Also, Fatty Ding Dongs Van Halen.) That being said, I was really skeptical about the band’s reunion in general until I saw them live, and they absolutely left an EVH-sized boot print on my ass, so maybe the record will be good after all?

In any case, Van Halen will be performing at the Grammys on November 30, where they’re expected to make a “major announcement,” which is obviously about the new album, so we’ll know much more in a few weeks.
