TWO UNFORTUNATE TOUR CANCELATIONS: FALLUJAH AND KING’S X

It takes a lot for your average working class metal band to cancel a tour. As if van wrecks and health scares weren’t bad enough on their own, the lost income from not being able to tour — where bands these days make most of their income — just adds insult to injury. It couldn’t have been an easy decision for Fallujah and King’s X to both cancel tours this week, but tough times call for tough measures.

Fallujah have been forced to drop off their tour with Hate Eternal and Goatwhore after wrecking their van and trailer into oblivion. Here’s what Intronaut/Bereft guitarist Sacha Dunable had to say about the very same stretch of road that did in Fallujah in a Blogronaut column he wrote last year about the best and worst drives in the U.S.: “Do not take the route on I-80 through Wyoming because you will probably die. Ever hear a story about a band hitting black ice and crashing their van? Chances are it happened on this road.” And that’s exactly what happened; the band got caught in a storm and hit a patch of black ice, spinning out of control despite only driving 30 mph. Those interested in helping out the band can donate some money via Paypal or buy Merch at Vipmerch.com. Thankfully and most importantly, all of the band members survived the wreck without major injuries.

King’s X drummer Jerry Gaskill is not faring as well: since suffering a heart attack over the weekend, Jerry’s been on a ventilator and has been kept in the ICU, according to a King’s X Facebook update. There are some positive signs, though; according to bassist Doug Pinnick, “they took the balloon out, and they have lowered the blood pressure meds 3 times, good news!!” Meanwhile, King’s X has been forced to cancel their upcoming The First Church of Rock and Roll Tour of the Western U.S.

Best of luck to the members of both bands getting back on their feet again from everyone at MetalSucks.
