We all have some things in our past that we’re not proud of. For example, did you know that I was briefly the editor-in-chief of Hit Parader in the 80s? What can I tell you, I had bills to pay*.

So Tosin Abasi, one of the most revered guitarists in modern metal, shouldn’t feel too embarrassed by this footage of his old rap-metal band, 7 Lox, playing Sherwood High School ‘s 2001 “Sherwoodstock.” I mean, we’re all gonna watch it and point and laugh, but it’s not gonna lessen our respect for him or anything. The band’s silly clothing and vocals and stage moves aside, they’re still a million times better than hed (p.e.). And besides, it’s not like Tosin reuniting this very silly nu-metal band or anything completely unforgivable like that, y’know?

Skip ahead to roughly the forty-five minute mark to watch Tosin and 7 Lox in action. Then go here to read our recent interview with the guitarist and listen to an exclusive snippet of new music from T.R.A.M., the guitar player’s new project with Adrian Terrazas (The Mars Volta), Javier Reyes (Animals As Leaders),  and Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies).

*No I’m totally kidding, I would never write for Hit Parader.
