CEREBRAL BORE WON THE SUMMER SLAUGHTER OPENING BAND VOTE
When the polls opened and the fan-voting began for which band would get the opening slot on Summer Slaughter this week, I predicted that either Vildjharta or Cerebral Bore — two young bands with a very strong online presence — would win. And, hey, lookee here — Cerebral Bore did, indeed win.
Which doesn’t bother me one bit. Cerebral Bore might not be my favorite band of all time or anything, but the first time I heard them, I categorized them as “not at all terrible” — an assessment I stand behind. When you consider that I Declare War could have won this thing, having Cerebral Bore on board seems like a miracle. And the good news is, even if you hate them, guess what? They go on first, so you can easily skip their set and arrive in time to see the other bands on the bill, all of whom are great. Personally, I haven’t seen CB live yet, and will be curious to check ’em out.
There are still no dates for Summer Slaughter, but the other confirmed acts are Cannibal Corpse, Between the Buried and Me, Job for a Cowboy, Periphery, The Faceless, Veil of Maya, Goatwhore, and Exhumed. One more band, rumored to be Fleshgod Apocalypse, is still to be announced.
