A Life Once Lost 2011

It’s been a while since we reported on genre-pioneering pro-djent-itors A Life Once Lost, so here’s a bunch of news concerning the band all in one shot.

First, and most importantly, an official press release tells us that the band is finally heading into the studio to record their first album since 2007. “Philadelphia, PA’s A Life Once Lost can now officially confirm that they will be heading to Planet Red in Richmond, VA on April 10th, 2012 to record the long-awaited follow-up to the band’s 2007 album Iron Gag. Planet Red is owned and operated by famed producer Andreas Magnusson (The Black Dahlia Murder, Impending Doom).” The new record will be released by ALOL’s new label Season of Mist.

A LIFE ONCE LOST SUPER-UPDATE (RECORDING, NEW GUITARIST, TOUR DATES)Last week the band finally chosen their new guitarist would be following the departure of Robert Carpenter last year… only they’re being coy bastards about it and not telling us who it is just yet. On their Facebook page [via The PRP]:

Guitarist?
Yeah, we just got one to replace Bobby Carpenter’s departure.

Another Lenape High School graduate?
Yes he is.

We will announce who it is soon

So, yeah, that’s like totally really helpful, thanks guys! If anyone knows who the new guitarist is, chime in via the comments below.

Lastly but not leastly, ALOL are going to be playing a few Northeast U.S. dates with the very super-awesome Black Sheep Wall this June. Black Sheep Wall are a phenomenal band, and combining their powerful sludge attack with ALOL’s own brand of sludge-laden groove makes perfect sense. Dates:

6/23 – Richmond, VA @ Kingdom
6/24 – Washington, DC @ DC9
6/25 – New York, NY @ Lit Lounge
6/26 – Boston, MA @ Great Scott
6/27 – Keene, NH @ The Railroad Tavern
6/28 – Rochester, NY @ The Dubland Underground
6/29 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Mr. Roboto Project

See you kids at the New York show.
