OLD MAN GLOOM WILL DEFINITELY RELEASE A NEW ALBUM IN 2012!

Old Man Gloom

Last May, Kurt Ballou announced via his Facebook page that he was about to begin producing a new Old Man Gloom record, only to retract the statement a day later as “a late April Fool’s joke.”

But now it appears as if Ballou was simply covering the tracks of his slip-up, which many of us suspected anyway… and that there is, in fact, a new Old Man Gloom record on the way! Which makes a ton of sense given their upcoming May tour dates in the northeast.

The pending new record from Old Man Gloom — the band features Aaron Turner (Isis), Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders) and Caleb Scofield (Cave In), and Santos Montano, and their last release was 2004’s Christmas — has been all but confirmed in a post via Hydra Head Records’ Facebook page this morning (Turner also owns Hydra Head, and all of OMG’s records have been released through HH or sister label Tortuga Recordings). Quote:

It’s coming…..

So yeah, this is definitely happening. Looks like the band put the album in the can with Ballou last May after all, but the band was holding off on releasing the record for a while (possibly due to their “day job” touring commitments). When Ballou blew it on the announce, he was asked to cover it up. And now that the timing is right, this thing will see the light of day. More news as we get it. In the meantine: GET EXCITEBIKE!!!!
