WORLD, MEET STAM1NA

Stam1na’s oddly-spelled moniker might lead you to believe they’re, like, some crappy tenth generation nu-metal band or whatever, but they’re anything but — in fact, these Finns make metal more akin to that of their countrymen in Children of Bodom and Kalmah, albeit with decidedly less death-y vocals. They’ve just signed with Bieler Bros. Records and released the video for their first single, “Valtiaan Uudet Vaateet” (Google tells me it means “Lord of New Claims” — is the song about insurance?), which you can watch below. Not only does the tune kick ass, and not only does the clip feature some totally epic windmilling that makes me long for the days when I had nipple-length hair, but it’s also incredibly funny, and yet another example of how creativity wins out over huge budgets every time.

Check it out… there’s some blood and a little bit of male buttocks in it, so it may be considered NSFW, although I’d wager you can get away with watching it in the office:

“Valtiaan Uudet Vaateet”  will be released digitally “in the coming weeks,” according to a press release. Meanwhile, Stam1na’s Bieler Bros. debut, Nocebo (Google tells me it means “Nocebo”), comes out July 17, and was produced and engineered by Joe Baressi (Queens Of The Stone Age, Tool, Weezer). I’m sure we’ll be reminding you of Nocebo‘s release as the date draws closer…
