SICK NEW KEITH MERROW SONG FEATURES JEFF LOOMIS GUEST SOLO

Keith Merrow - Retrospecial

I wholeheartedly back the assertion of No Clean Singing‘s GroverXIII that Keith Merrow “is one of the best-known one-man home-recording metal artists to arise in recent years.” Actually, I’d strike “known” from that statement; it should just read “one of the best.” He’s prolific, too; after releasing Awaken The Stone King in early 2011 he followed with an album by his death metal side project Dimisery later the same year (which we premiered here at MetalSucks), and now just a few months later he’s back with a new 8-track EP released under his own name called Retrospecial. The EP, which includes two re-recorded versions of older Merrow songs, is available for “pay what you choose” through Keith Merrow’s website.

Watch the playthrough video for “Spice Dealer” below. Keith always does a great job with these videos, but this one is made extra-special by a Jeff Loomis guest guitar solo — with video! — starting around 3:20. Pretty sure that’s 7 Horns 7 Eyes’ Aaron Smith making a cameo at the end, as he’s kind of become Loomis’ personal recording tech. LOL @ “Merr-bro.”
