HAS ELLIOT COLEMAN LEFT TESSERACT… ALREADY?

HAS ELLIOT COLEMAN LEFT TESSERACT… ALREADY?Well, that was quick.

It was only last August that ex-Sky Eats Airplane vocalist Elliot Coleman took Dan Tompkins’ place as the singer of U.K. atmospheric tech-metallers TesseracT (for more on that, read this interview we conducted with Tess bassist Amos Williams). Now, just two weeks after TesseracT released their acoustic Perspective EP as a stop-gap between proper albums and as a showcase for their new vocalist, it appears as if Coleman has left the group.

All of this should be treated as speculation since nothing has been confirmed in any official capacity. But I’m not sure how else to interpret what Coleman posted on his Formspring account in response to a fan’s question (screen cap above):

fashe123: If you weren’t in TesseracT what would you be doing?

Elliotcoleman: You mean what am I doing now?

If this is true, it’s really too bad; I liked Coleman’s voice a lot, especially on TesseracT’s cover of Jeff Buckley’s “Dream Brother.” I wonder whether TesseracT will go the Killswitch Engage route and invite Tompkins back or whether they’ll find their own Gary Cherone or Blaze Bayley to be the group’s third singer.
