NUCLEAR BLAST IS SURROUNDED BY MONSTERS
Nuclear Blast’s latest sign is a band called Surrounded by Monsters. I suspect many of you will be enraged by their haircuts, their sense of style, and the fact that hey have a female keyboard player (and I can’t exactly blame you there — between Bleeding Through and Winds of Plague, it’s little wonder anyone is immediately suspicious of such a member amongst a band’s ranks). So allow me to add a little more fuel to that fire by letting you know that the band’s debut album was produced by Stephen Bradley, who, in case you don’t recognize the name, is the guitar player for Iwrestledabearonce.
Indeed, Surrounded by Monsters band seems to share some traits with IWABO. I’m basing this ostensibly on aforementioned haircuts/sense of style and the one SbM song I’ve heard, “Dr. Phuck” (video below), the title of which, come to think of it, also seems pretty IWABO-esque. I don’t think it’s as good as the best IWABO, but I do think it’s a cut above the usual genre-bending, heavily “scene”-friendly fare. I’ll be curious to hear the whole album when it comes out.
