SATURDAY TO SHAKE HARDER TO, BOY
This week the MS Monkeys and their dutiful slaves (us dumb humans) are all pumped for the triumphant return of legendary post-hardcore band Harkonen from Tacoma, Washington. Said outfit broke up way back in 2005 but have been wooed out of dormancy for THREE SHOWS ONLY by rising vinyl-only label Brutal Panda Records, which has graciously re-pressed the band’s seminal 2002 album Shake Harder Boy for this mini-run. Guitarist/vocalist Ben Verellen had this to say about the band’s first east coast shows in almost a decade:
“The last time Harkonen was on the East Coast I think Matt had a broken wrist, so Casey and I toured out with a CD of Matt playing drums through a bunch of amps. Last time Harkonen tried to fly anywhere to do a show, the plane had a malfunction and almost went down. It’s been about 10 years since all that and I’m hoping the curse has lifted. Bout to find out!”
The three aforementioned shows (all with The Atlas Moth and Whores as well) are:
6/14 Boston, MA @The Middle East w/ZOZOBRA
6/15 Brooklyn, NY @Union Pool w/FIGHT AMP
6/16 Philadelphia, PA @Kung Fu Necktie w/LADDER DEVILS
After the jump, let’s shshshshshSHAKE summore….
