GAZA ARE “THE VIPERS” OF GRIND

Pitchfork metal scribe Brandon Stosuy’s succinct description of Salt Lake City grindsters Gaza, which nails me to a tee:

This is smart, enraged grindcore for people who don’t necessarily think they like the stuff.

Bam. I’m definitely not the resident grind expert at the MS Mansion — Axl, Sammy, Kim Kelly, Satan Rosenbloom, well.. pretty much everyone here has me beat — but there’s something about Gaza that appeals to the inner grind-freak buried somewhere inside of me. Check out “The Vipers,” a new track streaming at Pitchfork; it’s some of the angriest-sounding music released this year, yet it’s cleverly composed, builds from start to finish, and dare I say it’s even a little proggy. Grind for the sake of moshing as hard as possible all the time this is not (though there’s plenty of mosh here too).

Check out “The Vipers” at Pitchfork, and visit Decibel for a stream of “The Truth Weighs Nothing” from a few weeks back. No Absolutes In Human Suffering comes out on physical media formats on August 28th on Black Market Activities (it came out digitally on July 31 as we previously reported). Pre-order here.
