EARACHE RECORDS IS GIVING AWAY $2400 WORTH OF MUSIC FOR ONLY $160

Earache USB stick

Earache Records is one of the most forward-thinking labels in metal — everyone knows that — or, if you disagree with their business strategy of recent years, at the very least you’ve got to admit they’re one of the few labels that actually calls shit what it is and refuses to bury its collective head in the sand. So it’s no surprise that Earache are the ones offering one of the most insane (and insanely awesome) deals on recorded music I’ve ever seen: almost 2,000 songs from throughout their entire back catalogue on an 8GB USB stick for only $160. That’s $2,400 worth of music at current iTunes prices for $160. Holy fuckticles!

The specially made, custom USB stick contains 1,900 tracks; 90’s era classics like Carcass, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, and Entombed as well as modern bangers like Woods of Ypres, Cerebral Bore & Evile. These tracks are fully tagged and correctly labelled (people, do NOT underestimate the seemingly simple task of proper labeling… SO MANY LABELS FUCK IT UP!), so all you’ve got to do is drag and drop into your iTunes library and you’re ready to rock.

Earache is taking a gamble that liquidating their music at bargain basement prices will entice people to hand over their money rather than spend all the time and energy necessary to pirate these releases individually. In other words, getting paid something is better than getting paid nothing. But if Earache REALLY wanted to clean up here they would’ve offered this as a digital download bundle instead of a USB stick, and I’m not sure why they didn’t go that route. Maybe they think people will dig the custom USB stick as a collector’s item? Personally I’d rather just download the thing immediately as opposed to waiting for an item to arrive in the mail that I’m never going to use again once I’ve copied all its contents over.
