New Stuff

Everyone’s favorite band with two drummers, Kylesa, haven’t had a new album in two years — and while they’re not getting anything 100% fresh out this year, they will be releasing a rarities collection, From the Vaults, Vol. 1, next month. And now we have our first taste of Vaults in the form of the release’s sole brand-new track, “End Truth.”

I’m kind of indifferent towards Kylesa at this point, so I’m probably not the best person to judge this tune… but since I’m the asshole writing this, I will anyway!

I think “Truth” is… fine. It’s moody, it’s fuzzy, it’s druggy… it’s a Kylesa song! It still doesn’t convince me that Kylesa are The Second Coming the way some people seem to think they are, but I’ll certainly take it over the latest djeathstep single any day of the week. And I like Laura Pleasants’ voice so much that I sincerely wish she were doing the lion’s share of the vocals here. So, uh… yeah!

Listen here and see what you think. From the Vaults, Vol. 1 comes out November 20 on Season of Mist.
