The air is cool and crisp, Yankees fans are coming out of the woodwork to hop on the bandwagon, and everyone’s Facebook feeds are lighting up with annoying pictures of apple picking adventures into “the country”: CMJ Music Marathon must be here!

The annual week-long marathon of shows features plenty of can’t-miss metal events this year, starting tonight. All events are open to CMJ badge-holders unless otherwise noted, although they’re also open to the general public for an admission fee. Let’s take a quick look:

  • Monday, October 15 – Conflict of Interest: The Syndicate’s Conflict of Interest party kicks off CMJ on the festival’s Monday every year. Andrew W.K. hosts, with performances by Savoir Adore, Team Spirit, Pacific Air and The Hounds Below. Presented by Taco Bell and World Hunger Relief.   • Tuesday, October 16 – Metal Insider Comedy Showcase: VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show co-hosts Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine will be headlining, along with Jesse Joyce, Nikki Glaser and Luis J. Gomez. The Stand (228 Third Ave, btw 19th and 20th Sts), 8:30pm, $10, 16+.
  • Tuesday, October 16 – Conquerors of the World Tour featuring Inquisition, Septicflesh, Krisiun, Melechesh and Ex Deo. Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street), 7pm, $22, 16+. **not affiliated with CMJ**
  • Tuesday, October 16 – Gwar with Devildriver, Cancer Bats and Legacy of Disorder. Music Hall of Williamsburg, 6:30pm, $29.50, 18+. **not affiliated with CMJ**
  • Thursday, October 18 – MetalSucks / Metal Injection / 1000 Knives Official CMJ Showcase, featuring Pig Destroyer, KEN Mode, Early Graves and Encrust. Public Assembly (70 N. 6th St., Brooklyn), 8pm, $15 advance / $17 day of show, 18+. First 100 through the door get a ticket for a free can of Pabst Blue Ribbon, courtesy of eOne.
  • Friday, October 19 – Metal Insider 2012 CMJ Showcase / Rocks Off Concert Cruise, featuring Prong, This or the Apocalypse, For Sleeping or Jumping and Eminence. Aboard The Star of Palm Beach (launches from Pier 40, West Houston St. at West Side Highway), boards 7pm / departs 7:30pm, $25 advance / $30 day of show, 21+.
  • Saturday, October 20 – Brooklyn Vegan / Black Bubblegum Official CMJ Showcase featuring Yakuza, Royal Thunder, Fight Amp, Enabler, Helen Money and Sannhet (more info). Saint Vitus (1120 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn), 7:30pm, $5, 21+. Complimentary Pabst Blue Ribbon and Sailor Jerry Rum while it lasts.
  • Saturday, October 20 – Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy Showcase featuring a “Special Guest” TBA, Car Bomb, Batillus, Pyrrhon, Primitive Weapons and Theologian. 285 Kent Ave. (Brooklyn), 8pm, $10, All Ages.
