All Folked Up

Becoming the Archetype guitarist and MetalSucks MLB columnist Seth Hecox has decided to take a short break from his regular diet of metal and baseball. The Georgia-born axe-slinger has put down his electric guitar and baseball cap in favor of an acoustic and a fedora, and together with his longtime friend Brandon Michael Williams, he’s recorded an acoustic folk album.

The ten-song album consists of “songs that celebrate the rootsy, folksy, Americana sound, a la Ryan Adams, Wilco and Bob Dylan.” Says Seth, “After so many years of making music that was huge and layered and intense, I found myself longing to be expressed in more simple terms. So my old friend Brandon Michael Williams and I started writing simple songs that each told a story and expressed our views of the world in a more stripped-down way. We found the perfect producer in Andrew Ratcliffe (Pokey LaFarge, Jars of Clay), and the songs came out beautifully.”

All Folked Up is set to be released on December 4 via iTunes, Amazon, and Bandcamp. Stream the first song to be released from the album, “Without A Spark,” below [via Bandcamp]:
