General Lee - Raiders of the Evil Eye

Riddle me this: if you guys complain so much about the content of this site having less and less to do with metal (which is not true, but is a common gripe), then why do posts about Chris Brown looking like a jackass get more comments than this one? I hope to be proven wrong.

The frenchmen in the decidedly American-monikered band General Lee (or is that an anti-American name?) are every bit as deserving of your attention as the more popular bands we post on a daily basis, and certainly more worthy of your attention than frickin’ Chris Brown. The outfit blurs the lines of post-metal and post-hardcore into a dreamy yet aggressive mix of The Ocean’s proggy soundscapes and the mathy tendencies of Botch (et al). It’s a winning combination; if you’re not into the opening sequence of Raiders of the Evil Eye album-opener “The Witching Hour,” just wait until the next minute, or the next song and surely there’s something for you. I favor the album’s slower, more atmospheric second half over its more aggressive beginning. Stream the entire album below, via General Lee’s Bandcamp:

Raiders of the Evil Eye is out now on Play the Assassin Records and can be purchased here.
