Ek-Sikth Member’s New Music is not Very Sikth-y

In Colour

Since influential U.K. tech metallers Sikth broke up in 2008 guitarist Dan Weller has for the most stayed behind the recording console — where he’s engineered and/or produced on albums for Gallows, Malefice and, uh, Enter Shikari, among others — while some of his former bandmates carry the metal flame via Aliases and Primal Rock Rebellion. Weller’s reportedly been working on his own new project called In Colour for years already, but today we get to hear our first taste of that via two new songs, “Listen For The Rain” (video) and “All That I’ve Been Waiting For.”

And, um, sorry to disappoint you, but… if you’re looking to get out your tech-metal crazies you should probably go elsewhere. I don’t even know how to describe this music; part Peter Gabriel, part Demi Lovato? Maybe just a hint of Dredg? Check it out:

The first I don’t so much like, but the second I can get into a little bit. Ex-Tesseract vocalist Dan Tompkins sings for In Colour, and the lineup is rounded out by Ciaran Cahill (synthesizers), Pete Skipper (bass) and Darren Baxter (drums).

And that is probably the last time you will read about this band on MetalSucks.

Meanwhile, rumors of a pending Sikth reunion promptly fizzled shortly after they launched a Facebook page and merch store earlier this year, although they did promise a new record would be on the way eventually. We’ll see.

Thanks: Andrew I.
