New Music from The Bronx: “Ribcage”

The Bronx (IV)

The Bronx are back with a new album — their fourth — the appropriately titled The Bronx (IV). Has it really been five years since the release of The Bronx (III)? Holy crap, it has.

Stream a new song called “Ribcage” from the album right here:

I think you’ll find the song to be a bit more melodic than The Bronx’s past outfit, although to me it sounds like it’s still got plenty of the band’s patented piss and vinegar. I’ve always really liked The Bronx — even their mariachi albums — and I like this new song. Drummer Jorma Vik says the band’s experience writing the two Mariachi El Bronx albums between the last proper Bronx album and this one influenced the band’s approach to songwriting:

I think that after doing the mariachi records, it gave us a whole new outlook and a more structured way of writing music. We figured out what works best. Everything is less spazzy. Matt doesn’t scream as much, but he’s got that thing in his voice where he can scream in pitch — mariachi has helped his confidence as a singer and ours as songwriters.

The Bronx (IV) will be release on February 5, 2013 via White Drugs/ATO Records. Download “Ribcage” on Amazon, or buy a limited edition 7” vinyl — along with a previously unreleased b-side “Into The Black” — right here.
