Glass Cloud Want to Rule the World

I’ve been wishing The Dillinger Escape Plan would recover a cover of Tears for Fears’ “Head Over Heels” ever since they performed it at a gig in 2010. Instead, we now have not-at-all-the-next-best-thing: Glass Cloud covering Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”

ANYWAY, for the most part, they haven’t really added anything to the song, other than some needlessly-busy drumming during the chorus, some needlessly-busy guitars during the bridge, and vocals that somehow sound even less-intimidating than Roland Orzabal’s original performance. Actually, it’s the section where they did make a significant change — starting around the 2:23 mark — that’s my favorite part. ‘Cause for a little while, Glass Cloud suddenly sounds like guitarist Josh Travis’ old (and, in my opinion, superior) band, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza.

Check out the cover below. It appears on Take Action Compilation: Volume 11, which is out now.
