Minus the Bear “Walk on Air”

This post is pushing the boundaries of the Not Quite Metal? category — more like Not Even Close to Metal But Has Some Vaguely Distorted Guitars and is Proggy — but f u it’s my site. And for some reason I feel as if a certain portion of this site’s readers will like this band, or maybe even do already.

Minus the Bear have been around for over a decade. They’re one of those bands that friends of mine always said I’d like, but I never really gave the time of day. So I clicked a link to listen to their new song “Walk on Air” via Rolling Stone on a whim and I’m totally hooked. The music is definitely based in indie rock, but it’s got a dark harmonic palette, a heavy, groovy beat and an odd time signature. And it’s catchy as hell. Listen:

The song comes from the soundtrack to the video game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The game will be out on April 16th, with the soundtrack due digitally the same day and on CD April 23rd.
