F*ck the Facts News Round-Up

It’s nice, after a week of pure, thick, sludgy shittiness to get some news that’s this fucking (the facts) great.

There’s been a whole bunch of activity in the camp of Fuck the Facts, Canada’s finest grindcore export. First, the band announced a new EP, Amer, which is coming out on June 18! Holy crap, that’s barely a month away!!! The band comments:

“It’s been almost two and half years since we released Die Miserable & Misery, so we’re very stoked to have some new music to share with you all! We will be independently releasing a new EP entitled ‘Amer’ on 10-inch vinyl, cassette and digitally.”

“Amer was recorded and mixed at our very own Apartment 2 Recording studio and mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer/Agoraphobic Nosebleed) at Visceral Sound. As usual all artwork was created by FTF vocalist Mel Mongeon. Amer consists of 7 songs and clocks in at just under 17 minutes.”

It case it isn’t readily apparent from my tone: I think that Fuck the Facts are the bee’s knees, and this EP could have seven songs in just under seventeen seconds and I’d still wanna hear it ASAP. And as a bonus, six of the song’s seven titles are in French, which makes said titles sound beautiful despite the fact that their meanings are actually fairly standard metal stuff (e.g., “L’enclume et le marteau” = “The Anvil and the Hammer”).

In related news, Greber, the two-piece grind outfit featuring Fuck the Facts bassist Marc Bourgon, have released a new video for their song “Thunderstatement.” It’s not a fantastic clip or anything — it’s basically just sweaty grind dudes in a basement doing what sweaty grind dudes do — but the song fucking rules, so I’m posting it anyway.
