Last month, with my esteemed compatriots Axl Rosenberg & Vince Neilstein, I attended my first-ever Living Colour concert (read Axl’s thorough review here).  Why I waited this long only Jeebus knows.  Thankfully, despite my inevitable building-up of the impending show, the men of Colour did not disappoint whatsoever.  This was a special performance, with the band playing their debut album in its entirety. I had grown up listening to Vivid from when it first came out and I was a wee fanboy youngin, and aside from a few 80s-isms that sound dated (yet retro-y good), the album really does hold up today.

And I’m guessing that there are plenty of you spry lil MetalSuckers out there who weren’t even born or were still suckin on your momma’s titties when this wonderful record first hit the shelves.  Well now your time has come.

We here at MetalNoLikey each have our favorite jams from this album — mine is “Desperate People”, Vince’s is “Middle Man”, Axl’s is “Open Letter (To a Landlord)” — but truly every song is a keeper.  So if you have never heard this record from front to back (or simply haven’t spun it in forever), do yourself a favor and get down RIGHT FRICKIN NOW.

What’s your favorite color, baby?
