Chimaira FB 2013

Just a little more than a month after launching an Indiegogo campaign to create a deluxe edition of their new album, Crown of Phantoms, and with ten days left to raise funds, Chimaira have surpassed their original goal of $30,000 by nearly $15,000 (as of this writing). That’s obviously impressive, and doubly so when you consider that this a new line-up for the band making their writing and recording debut. In other words, fans have been willing to invest in the project pretty much on faith. And based on what we’ve heard of the album thus far, it certainly seems like their faith will be rewarded.

The band released the following statement regarding their crowd funding success:

“A huge thank you to all Chimaira fans for helping us surpass our goal in such a short amount of time. We’re truly humbled and will be delivering the greatest content possible to all of you. We’ve now added a few more perks that involve Performing On-Stage, Submitting Video Content For Our YouTube, and Signed Drum Heads / Sticks.

“The additional funds raised beyond our goal will be put toward allowing us to tour extensively during this album cycle as well as the creation of additional quality media content. Please continue to spread the word and thank you all so much!”

You still have ten days to make a purchase and contribute to the campaign. Go here to do so.

Additionally, the band has released the below video, part of which is vocalist (and sole remaining original member) Mark Hunter and keyboardist Sean Z. thanking fans for all their support, and part of which is a substantial chunk of another new song, which I’m going to guess based on the chorus is called “Spineless.” And it… sounds… AWESOME. I mean… DAT GROOVE. A++++ WDBWA.

Watch the video below. You can skip to 1:40 if you just wanna hear the new music.
