It’s Cristina Scabbia and Paradise Lost at the Metal Hammer Awards

My first exposure to Paradise Lost was like 600 years ago when I encountered the song “Gothic” on college radio. In the short run, it bummed me out to find that the enchanting jam was atypical of PLost; the rest of their stuff didn’t have those pretty female vocals. But in the long run, it was awesome to find that pretty female vocals sound amazing atop extreme metal. (Again, the year was 1991.) So the seeds were planted for my future fandom of Lacuna Coil and Devin Townsend Project.

Therefore it’s full-circle-ish that all these decades later, Lacuna Coil’s Cristina Scabbia joined Paradise Lost for “Say Just Words” at their set at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods in London on Sunday. They didn’t play my jam (below) but the drummer sure turned back the clock to his younger, off-beat self lol.
