Are High on Fire Recording a New Album?

High on Fire studio

High on Fire just finished recording… something! We’re not sure what it is yet, as according to Kurt Ballou — who engineered the recording at Oakland’s Sharkbite Studios — the session only lasted “a couple of days,” too short to record a problem album by several orders of magnitude. Via Facebook:

I just got back from a couple days of riffs, tacos, and coffee in Oakland with the almighty High On Fire.

So what could it be? Some pre-production tracks, perhaps? A one-off song (or two) for something like a soundtrack, or a couple of cuts for an EP release by Scion or the like? Really hard to say, but you’ll know as soon as we do.

Most importantly, we now have an answer to a question that’s been haunting us for ages: yes, Matt Pike does indeed wear his favorite t-shirt ALL THE TIME, even in the recording studio!
