Good Tour Alerts: Dark Tranquillity / Omnium Gatherum / Exmortus and Woe / Inter Arma

Kip Wingerschmidt does a really funny impression of Dark Tranquillity frontman Mikael Stanne’s signature stage move. It’s like a little shimmy where he rotates his head 360 degrees around on his neck while still facing forward. If you’ve seen DT live surely you know I mean.

I jest, of course, because we love Dark Tranquillity, and they’ll be heading out this coming winter with epic Finnish melo-doomsters Omnium Gatherum — who I believe will be playing the U.S. for the first time? hooray! — and Exmortus, a really talented thrash band from California who don’t seem to tour all that often.

Completely unrelated but also cool: neo-doomsters Inter Arma will head out with Northeastern black metallers Woe on a short two-week jaunt in September. For whatever reason I keep missing Woe whenever they come to NYC so I’m excited to see them again after several years (now with Krallice’s Lev Weinstein on drums!), and the only time I saw Inter Arma was at the horrible-sounding, airplane-hangar-esque Kent 285, so I’m ready for a proper Inter Arma show as well.
