Not Quite Metal?

The Most Beautiful Album You Will Hear All Day: Moving Mountains’ New Record

Moving Mountains aren’t really metal, although we’ve covered them before: if you’re a fan of dreamy, atmospheric, almost-but-not-quite-metal space-rock bands like Junius, If These Trees Could Talk and Constants you’re a sure bet to like Moving Mountains. If you’ve made it this far you’re probably already a fan and I’m wasting space by telling you what you’ve known for years.

So: Moving Mountains’ new self-titled affair is positively gorgeous. I’ve been streaming it all morning courtesy of the official Moving Mountains webstore, and I’m tempted to say it’s the band’s best album yet. The entire band is in top form and the clear, bright, big production highlights their nuanced arrangements, but the delineating factor is the songwriting: every single song here is absolutely infectious. Track 5, “Eastern Leaves,” stood out for me on first listen.

Stream Moving Mountains now and order it as well. It comes out today on Triple Crown Records.
