Obliterate the “Goat Skull Crown” with Obliteration

This is death metal at its core: ugly, raw, fast and relentless. It’s easy to lose track of these qualities with all of the ear candy today’s slickly produced and more experimental death metal acts crank out — not that there’s anything wrong with that — but sometimes it just feels right to get back to basics. A measured dose of old-school thrash doesn’t hurt the cause either.

With that in mind crank “Goat Skull Crown,” the latest from Kolbotn, Norway’s Obliteration, via Invisible Oranges. Even infamous MS commenter “bob” of “SHUT UP BOB” fame will probably dig it. Black Death Horizon will be Obliteration’s third full-length album and first for Relapse Records, out November 12th.
