The Ocean - Collective Oblivion

The Ocean’s forthcoming Collective Oblivion 3x DVD looks amazing! Containing over 500 minutes of video footage — that’s not a typo — the release is pretty much the definitive encyclopedia of The Ocean. It includes:

  • Three full live concerts with a total of 21 individual song performances
  • 130 minutes of The Ocean history, as told by band members, past and present
  • 175 minutes of tour documentaries and live footage filmed in North America, Asia, Russia, Australia, and Europe (some of which have already been on YouTube for some time)

Check out the trailer below, and pre-order Collective Oblivion here.

Not included in the DVD but still awesome: the following pro-shot footage of The Ocean playing the instrumental version of “Benthic: The Origin Of Our Wishes” in Dortmund, Germany earlier this week. It’s been well-publicized that the band released an instrumental version of Pelagial along with the regular vocal version (and that the record was originally written as an instrumental piece) so this show simply could’ve been an expression of that, but it’s worth questioning whether there’s trouble in paradise with singer Loic Rossetti? It seems odd that they’d perform a show without him — although perhaps he was just unavailable for this gig. Check out the footage at WDR.de.

Speak of Loic Rossetti, he lent his vocal talents to Nami‘s new track “Silent Mouth,” which you can check out below. I don’t know anything about Nami but I really dig this song, and Rossetti’s voice is a perfect fit for it. Kinda reminds me of Iron Thrones meets The Ocean. The group’s sophomore album The Eternal Light Of The Unconscious Mind comes out on November 4th. [via The PRP]
